Auto-Renewal FAQ

The automatic renewal of season tickets is designed to be a win-win for fans and the Athletics Department – making it more convenient for the approximately 90% of OSU fans that complete the season ticket renewal process every year while helping OSU focus time and resources on continuously enhancing the fan experience and growing the OSU Family. It will operate like increasingly popular subscription services and automatic bill pay but will maintain the flexibility of numerous payment plan options. 1-2 months after each sport season at the new Subscription Management Deadline, all season tickets will be automatically renewed on the payment plan and method used for the previous season. Those that buy new season tickets after the deadline will be auto-renewed at the longest payment plan option for the next season. Season ticket holders may select a different payment plan for the following season at any point before the Subscription Management Deadline for that season.

Season ticket holders will renew as usual for 2022 spring and fall sports and 2022-23 winter sports. Any season tickets held for those seasons will be automatically renewed for subsequent seasons. The first auto-renewed tickets will be for 2023 spring sports (baseball & softball) and will occur in summer of 2022 shortly after the conclusion of the 2022 spring season. 2022 fall sports (football & soccer) season tickets will then be automatically renewed for the 2023 season shortly after the 2022 fall season ends. 2022-23 winter sports (basketball & wrestling) season tickets will be automatically renewed for the 2023-24 season shortly after the conclusion of the 2022-23 season.

The deadline to opt out of, or make other changes to, season tickets for each sport’s next season will be 1-2 months after that sport’s previous season (the Subscription Management Deadline). These dates will be communicated each season when they are solidified, giving plenty of time to opt out. OSU Athletics will continue to operate a seat move process that will take place shortly after the Subscription Management Deadline for each season. Fans may add or drop seats before that point.

Many payment plans will continue to be offered to maintain flexibility that fits season ticket holders’ preferences. Payment does not need to be in full by the opt out deadline, but a payment plan must be selected. For those that want to pay in full, a “set it and forget it” pay-in-full annual payment plan may be set up for the Subscription Management Deadline or an earlier date.

Those that buy new season tickets after the deadline will be auto-renewed for the next season at the longest payment plan option available. Season ticket holders may select a different payment plan for the following season at any point before the Subscription Management Deadline for that season.

Cash and checks will be accepted until the opt out deadline. Any remaining balance after the opt out deadline must be on a payment plan using a payment type that can be automatically charged on each installment date. Also, OSU Athletics is introducing ACH (basically electronic checks) as a new payment method before the first round of auto-renewals.

Payment plans and methods may be changed at any point before the Subscription Management Deadline.
